Inquiry #10: Eadward Muybridge

2.  He was studying the way that living creatures move, also known as animal locomotion.
3.  He used multiple cameras set up in different locations to capture stop-motion images of moving creatures. He would attach strings to the shutter so that the cameras would take photos when the animal tripped the string.

Inquiry #9: "View from the Field, on the west side of Hagerstown road, after the Battle of Antietam."

Sept 19, 1862:  Image of the casualties that occurred from the Civil War, this photo is just one of many battles fought in America during this war.  These particular soldiers are Confederates. The images taken on this day are so prominent in society because they were the first photographs that the general public was exposed to the aftermath of the war and what it was like.

Inquiry #8: Julia Margaret Cameron

2.Her photography style was to treat photography as an art and a science, and many did not appreciate her style, however she was much like the style of pre-Raphaelites.
3.She lived from June 11, 1815 to January 26, 1879, 63 years old.
4.I like the way that she got very close to her subject, and you can tell that she was artistic in the way she positioned her subjects and the way she softened the photo was very original and unique.
5.Modern photographers appreciate her work now. In 1948, a biographer wrote a book about Cameron appreciating her work as a portrait photographer.

3. The subject was a colored ribbon, commonly known as a tartan ribbon
4. The three colors he used were red, green and blue.
Bonus: This type of color is called additive color.  A common example of additive color can be found in computer screens.

Inquiry #5: Self-Portrait as a Drowned Man

2. This was Hippolyte Bayard's photo.
3. He made this photo in 1840.
4. He made the photo because he felt he had been subjected to an injustice among the photography world.  He had been asked to keep how he made his photos a secret so that a rival daguerrotype style could be patented.  He made this photo to represent his feelings of injustice. The public believed that he was dead.  It was the first photo that was intended to fool the masses.
5. Hippos kill about 2,900 people every year.
6. The French word for hippopotamus is "hippopotame."
