Inquiry #9: "View from the Field, on the west side of Hagerstown road, after the Battle of Antietam."

Sept 19, 1862:  Image of the casualties that occurred from the Civil War, this photo is just one of many battles fought in America during this war.  These particular soldiers are Confederates. The images taken on this day are so prominent in society because they were the first photographs that the general public was exposed to the aftermath of the war and what it was like.
